Bank Holiday Sunday at the end of May gave the committee some concern when just prior to the kick-off, which was to be in the garden of the New Church Road address, the heavens opened.
Quickly putting chairs in the gazebo only just about set up and getting our two presenters from Majestic Wines under a further gazebo good luck smiled upon us and it was all over in ten minutes and the sun came out again adding to a very convivial afternoon in the garden supping wines and being informed of the differences between Old World wines versus New World wines.
A table full of food as supplied by our hosts was much appreciated and enjoyed along with the wines.
The ever present raffle swelled the funds raising a total of £596.
Warm thanks are due to Tristan and Amy for the use of their home and garden and for the array of food, and to Lewis and Michael from Majestic Wines in Old Shoreham Road. Everyone went home happy with the knowledge they had gained about the differences between the wines (having tasted a wide variety!)
We hope to hold another tasting with Christmas and New Year on the horizon in October so that everyone knows what to serve with their Christmas Fare or what to serve up to see in the New Year! We are trying to locate a venue in Brighton town centre… Watch this space!
